SYNOPSIS
In the depths of half-human, half-unknown, twenty-year-old, Summer Keese’s mind, the walls are beginning to crack....
Less than twenty-four hours after my sister was brutally murdered, my whole world unravels until the very laws of my existence are broken. A bloodthirsty female slides promises against my thoughts, a psychotic cult demands I channel powerful objects to open a door between realms. Then there are the blood-drinking ghouls controlled by the most dangerous man alive who wants me dead. Total insanity, right? Except, this is my new life.
Then I meet him. Black. Tall, overbearing, stubborn. The man harbors sinister secrets and lives by his own set of rules—rules I can't begin to comprehend. I don’t doubt he’d sacrifice me for his own end goals, but even he can’t deny the chemistry sizzling between us.
When searching for my sister's killer in a seedy suburb of Glasgow, I discover nothing about my life is what it seems. Family secrets spew from the grave. Betrayal sterilizes logical belief, emotions run hot, I make some seriously bad choices. But with the heart of Scotland becoming a paranormal battlefield, I have to wonder.... When did staying alive get so damn hard?
MY REVIEW
There is no better feeling than opening a book and getting sucked into the chaotic life of characters you can so quickly grow to care for. That is exactly what happened with LA Wild’s Chance the Darkness.
I seriously don’t think there was one character that I did not like…okay the roommates were boring and I don’t really care if I ever hear about them again, but what about that handsome hunk of muscle, Black? Or that aristocratic French hottie, Marinus. Heck, even that no-good, backstabbing bestfriend, Dillon has some swagger. There are so many book boyfriends jammed into this one story-none of which are good- yet they all carry a certain appeal that Summer Keese, the main character, just can’t stay away from.
This book was a whirlwind journey of questions, questions and more questions. But I’m dying for answers so I must keep reading! I need to know who this voice inside Summer’s mind belongs to, what army of monsters is the right side to join, what exactly are Summer’s powers. Who killed her sister? So many things still need to be answered and I must learn them now by jumping into book #2, Sense the Darkness.
